Raw Silk Kimono - Madder
Plant-dyed with Madder Root
Size: Free Size Unisex
Material: Handspun 50% Raw Silk / 50% Cotton
About This Fabric
Raw silk and cotton, dyed in natural madder root. Raw silk means the silkworm's own protective gum, sericin, has not been stripped away with chemical treatments. Left intact, it guards the fiber and extends the life of the cloth. New, the fabric has a subtle crispness that softens with every wash into a supple, lived-in drape.
Our madder is alive. Its warm reds may bleed at first, and no two pieces are ever quite alike — shifts in depth and tone are not flaws but the signature of the hand-dyed. Like fine raw denim, the color will mellow and grow more beautiful with wear.
Sizing & Fit
Cut generous and loose, the kimono is designed to drape rather than fit close — made as one free size to move easily across a wide range of bodies, unisex. Expect an oversized, relaxed silhouette with room to layer underneath.
Care
Wash gently and separately in cool water with mild soap. A faint natural scent fades with the first washes. Each wash brings softness; each wear brings character.
